About reflexly.io

The ultimate free reaction time testing and training platform. Test your reflexes, compete with friends, and track your improvement over time.

Our Mission

reflexly.io was built with a simple goal: make reaction time training fun, accessible, and social. Whether you're a competitive gamer looking to sharpen your reflexes, a student studying cognitive science, or just someone who wants a quick, engaging brain exercise — reflexly.io is designed for you.

The average human reaction time to a visual stimulus is approximately 250 milliseconds. With regular practice, most people can significantly improve their reaction speed. Our platform provides the tools, feedback, and motivation to help you reach your peak performance.

The Science of Reaction Time

Reaction time is the interval between the presentation of a stimulus and the initiation of a response. It involves three key stages: stimulus detection (sensory processing), decision making (central processing), and response execution (motor output).

Research shows that reaction time can be improved through practice. Factors that affect reaction time include age, fatigue, physical fitness, attention, and stimulus type. Audio stimuli typically produce faster reactions than visual stimuli because auditory processing is faster in the brain.

Our different game modes are designed to train different aspects of cognitive processing: the Classic mode tests simple reaction time, the Inhibition mode trains executive control, the Audio mode leverages faster auditory pathways, and the Chaos mode builds your ability to focus amid distractions.

How We Measure

reflexly.io uses the browser's performance.now() API for high-resolution timing with sub-millisecond precision. This is the same timing mechanism used in professional web performance benchmarking.

Keep in mind that your results can vary based on your device (input lag), browser, display (refresh rate), and input method (mouse vs keyboard vs touchscreen). For the most consistent results, use the same device and input method each time you train.
